Lets explore the difference between products classified “organic” and “natural” where used finest quality natural ingredients but it’s not certified. First of all lets have a look at statements on beauty products labels.

What Means “NATURAL”?

It means ingredients comes directly from plants or minerals and it should have had minimal or no processing at all. However, if you choosing natural products pay attention to label as a cosmetic company may use only one natural ingredient and still brand it as natural. Non-synthetic can also be classified as natural since it is a substance extracted from mineral, plant or animal product (such as honey or beeswax) without synthetic process.

What Means “ORGANIC”?

All ingredients comes from non-GMO plants, cultivated in ecological way, grown thinking about environmental impact and without artificial pesticides, fertilisers or any other toxic synthetic matter. All ingredient extraction and processing can be done in natural way only. TO be sure that product is organic needs to look at the labeling. In Europe the Soil Association, BDIH, Cosmebio, Ecocert and ICEA have teamed up to form an internationally recognised cosmetic organic standard known as COSMOS to ensure that beauty products meet the standards they claim to.

What Means “PETA”?

It’s People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals association which certifies brands and confirms that there is no testing on animals.

What Means “VEGAN”?

The manufacture and/or development of the product, and where applicable its ingredients, must not involve, or have involved, the use of any animal product, by-product or derivative.

Why you should pay attention to labels?

As I mention above, to qualify for “Organic”, a product’s ingredients strictly must be without toxic pesticides, toxic synthetic herbicides, or chemical as well as GMO’s, in the case of consumable products, no antibiotics or growth hormones.

Talking about “Natural” products there is no regulation for these kind of labels. Products with statement being made of natural ingredients may simply contain plant-derived ingredients that are highly processed and potentially even harmful.

But the “natural” claim can be genuine or for some businesses not affordable. Plant-based ingredients like natural extracts and essential oils may have an astonishing benefits for your hair and skin, even not technically being organic. A product could also include a few truly organic ingredients, which you could find in the ingredients list.

So Organic or Natural?

It is totally down to you to choose. Pay attention to what is in you chosen product, check ingredients list. Take in consideration, this as well, skin is your largest organ which needs to be looked after properly.
